Remains of this 17th-century Spanish fort are seen on this short walking tour through the historic fortification ruins and grounds including the cemetery. Discover Florida’s earliest Spanish heritage at this site where Conquistador Panfilo de Narvaez’s men built the first ship in the new world in the 16thcentury. Fuerte San Marcos de Apalache at the confluence of the St. Marks and Wakulla rivers was a strategic defense post for Spanish missions built north of here. Join local historian Madeleine Carr as she walks you through 500 years of history. A tour of the museum, short video and educational talk are included. 10:00 - 11:30 AM or 2:00 - 3:30 PM $10 per person includes museum entrance fee.
